First Engineering Faculty of Karakoram International University inaugurated by Chief Minister Giligit Baltistan Hafiz Hafeez ur Rehman at Chilmisdas Gilgit. On the occasion Vice Chancellor KIU Eng. Prof. Dr. Attaullah Shah, Commissioner Gilgit Division Mr. Usman Ahmed, religious scholar Shiekh Nayyer Abbas, politicians, Military and Civil Officers, KIU faculty, Staff Students, large number of local community and media personal were present.

Addressing the ground breaking ceremony  of Engineering Faculty  Chief Minister of Gilgit Baltistan Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman said that Gilgit Baltistan region rapidly improving upon it’s literacy rate thanks to the continues efforts of karakoram international University. Hafiz said the Gilgit Baltistan region had witnessed a great change during the past four years, for which the credit goes to former federal government for the uplift of area.He said with completion of the mega projects in the region would change the life of poor people of the region.

Eng. Prof. Dr. Attaullah Shah Vice Chancellor Karakoram international University has  said that with the support of local community, local Government and particularly the Chief Minister GB and Force Commander and Chief Secretary, the issue of demarcation has been resolved and we able to inaugurate the mega project of the region. KIU has already started B.S. Engineering program with permission of Pakistan Engineering Council and the construction of Faculty buildings and infrastructure will pave ways for high quality engineering education in the region. Vice Chancellor said that design for students hostel, sport gymnasium and Football/hockey and cricket grounds also in process. Before the ceremony, Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeez ur Rehman inaugurated the engineering faculty project at Chilmisdas Gilgit. Total tender cost of the civil work project is Rs. 387, 022,044 which completion period is two year.
