The launching ceremony of Aziz-ur-Rehman Malangi’s book of Shina poetry ISHQ-I-MALANG was held on December 07, 2017, at Musharraf Hall KIU. The chief guest his Excellency Dr. Muhammad Iqbal, Minister for works and Law along with mir e mehfil the Vice Chancellor KIU Dr. Khalil Ahmed, the guest of honor Mr. Zafar Waqar Taj, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ramzan, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Mr. Sajid Hussain Turi, Assistant Professor and Chairperson Department of Modern Languages, and others launched the book in the presence of a host of media personnel. The chief guest formally announced the inauguration and a huge acclaim and hullabaloo of the audience followed.

The book was solely sponsored by KIU and was documented, composed, compiled and edited by university’s Department of Modern Languages.

Dr. Abdul Hameed Lone, Registrar KIU welcomed the guests for coming over. He attributed Malangi as a learned illiterate and felicitated him for the big day.

In his speeches, the chief guest and the guests of honor highly appreciated the contributions and efforts of KIU to document and preserve the oral literature of Shina which was declared akin to preserving the language and culture.

Experts including Mr. Jamsheed Khan Dukhi, Mr. Abdul Saboor, and others expressed their remarks on the technical aspects of the book.

In his concluding speech, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed VC KIU thanked the guests for joining the event and encouraging the language and literature preservation and documentation efforts made by KIU through its Department of Modern Languages. He extended heartiest congratulations to Aziz-ur-Rehman Malangi over the inauguration of the book. He specifically mentioned and appreciated the efforts of the Department of Modern Languages.

Mr. Sohbat Ali, Lecturer, Department of Modern Languages, offered vote of thanks and expressed gratitude for the coming of every individual and their contributions to make the event a success.
