An awareness session on Human Trafficking with the Collaboration of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) & United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

The Department of International Relations, Karakoram International University organised an awareness session on Human Trafficking with the Collaboration of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) & United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). On this occasion the Eng. Professor Dr. Attaullah Shah, Honourable Vice Chancellor; Mr. Syed Ehsan Gilani, Senior Representative of UNODC; Mr. Ali Ahmed Deputy Director FIA, Dr. Tasawar Baig, Head Department of IR, Faculty and other delegates interacted with students at KIU.

During the awareness sessions, the students were informed about the serious issues related to Human trafficking, which involves in illicit recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring or receipt of persons, by means of the threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, of abduction, of fraud, of deception, of the abuse of power or of a position of vulnerability or of the giving or receiving of payments or benefits to achieve the consent of a person having control over another person, for the purpose of exploitation.

The audience were informed about the initiative by Government of Pakistan through passing historic legislation in this regard to curbing Human traffic, i.e. The Prevention of Trafficking in person Act, 2018 (TIP) and The Prevention of Smuggle of Migrants Act, 2018 (SOM).
