On the recommendation of the Senate KIU and VC Search Committee, the Honorable President of Pakistan has appointed a renowned academician, researcher and Civil Engineering professional Prof. Dr. Attaullah Shah as 5th Vice Chancellor of KIU. He has done Ph.D. Civil Engineering, MS Str Engg, MPhil Eco, MS Envir Design, MBA, and PGD Computer Science Before joining KIU, has been serving as the Vice Chancellor City University of Science and IT Peshawar during 2014-2018. He has been Director of Projects and Planning at AIOU during 2000-2014. He is fellow of Institution of Engineers Pakistan, Chairman KP Chapter of IEP, Consulting Engineer and Life member Pakistan Engineering Council. He is also a member of numerous committees of HEC and PEC. He is member project advisory committees, selection board and steering committees of various national and international organization of high repute.
Dr. Shah is the author of more than 100 publications in refereed journals and international conferences. He also authored 6 books in the areas of Engineering Eco, High Strength Concrete, Disaster Management, and Construction Project Management. He is an expert in the areas of academic leadership, financial management, resource mobilization and Outcome Based Education & Assessment.
Soon after his joining as VC-KIU, Dr. Shah started extensive meeting series with the faculty/staff. He shared his vision of making KIU as a leading higher education institute with improving the quality, research, national & International collaboration, commencing of Engineering education, developing the physical and technological infrastructure of KIU, improvement of Students and Employees services and automation of the University systems. He immediately approved the promotion and up gradation policy of grade 1-16 employees and assured the faculty & staff that their issues will be solved on merit. These objectives will be achieved through the values of Merit, Teamwork, individual commitment and Mutual respect.
He also visited all the three sub-campuses Hunza, Ghizer, and Diamer and made the decision on the spot. The PC-1 of these campuses were also revised as per needs of the sub-campuses. He assured the students that classes will start from July 15 and August 1 at Ghizer and Diamer respectively. The faculty, staff, and students have welcomed the appointment of Dr. Attaullah Shah as VC KIU.
