On 22nd October, His Excellency, Mr. Mamnoon Hussain the President of Pakistan and the Chancellor of Karakoram International University visited KIU Main Campus, Gilgit. The worthy Vice Chancellor, Karakoram International University, Prof Dr. Muhammad Asif Khan, along with the management, faculty and students welcomed His Excellency at KIU.

Mr. Muhammad Zafar Shakir, Lecturer of Dept of Modern Languages hosted the august house. The program began with the recitation of the Holy Quraan; Mr. Noman Ali, a Visiting Lecturer of Islamic Studies recited a few verses with translation. Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH) was presented by a student, Mr. Zuhaib Hassan, and Ms. Zakia Batool, representing KIU students, delivered the speech about KIU and the challenges faced by them.

The Vice Chancellor thanked His Excellency, mentioning that it was a historical occasion in KIU as it was only the second time that the Chancellor had visited the KIU, and most importantly, this was the first time in the history that an elected President had graced the university with his presence. The Vice Chancellor thanked His Excellency for giving him an important responsibility to lead KIU, openly assured him to announce strict adherence to merit and transparency to practice justice, whether it was admission to academic programs or employment, thus, would create trust and self-assurance in the masses that they were not going to be deprived of their due right.
