Karakoram International University (KIU) and the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD), Islamabad, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in promoting literacy and driving social and economic development.
According to KIU’s Public Relations Department, the MoU was signed by Vice Chancellor of KIU, Engr. Prof. Dr. Attaullah Shah, and Director General of NCHD, Mr. Ali Asghar. The partnership is aligned with the Prime Minister’s Education Emergency 2024 under the “Each One Teach One (EOTO)” program, aimed at expanding access to education and improving literacy across the country.
Under this collaboration, KIU will appoint a focal person responsible for coordinating activities, providing master trainers, facilitating student involvement, and managing instructional content and learner assessments. NCHD will provide technical support, train focal persons and trainers, supply learning materials, and monitor progress.
This partnership opens new opportunities for KIU students, including skill development, internships, and potential employment. Both institutions will also cooperate in conducting joint research, organizing seminars, workshops, conferences, and sharing academic publications and resources.
Additionally, KIU and NCHD will promote volunteerism and community engagement activities involving students and staff, empowering local communities and contributing to sustainable development.
Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Attaullah Shah remarked, “This agreement is a meaningful step toward addressing educational and social challenges in the region. By combining KIU’s academic strength with NCHD’s developmental initiatives, we aim to create impactful opportunities for our youth and communities.”
Director General NCHD, Mr. Ali Asghar, emphasized that the partnership will strengthen national priorities by enhancing human development indicators through education and community involvement. The agreement is expected to pave the way for innovative programs and lasting impact across the region.
