Open Forum Session with Communities of Hunza & Nagar

An open forum session was conducted at Karakoram International University Hunza campus. Worthy Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Attaullah Shah participated as the key speaker in the session. Notables from Hunza & Nagar, representatives from various organizations, principals and faculty members of schools and colleges, representatives from political and religious organizations, representatives from media organizations as well as a large number of students from various institutions participated in the event.

The main purpose of this open forum session was to discuss the challenges being faced by Hunza campus of KIU with the communities, especially to discuss the challenge of acquiring land for the construction of Hunza campus in particular and ongoing fall admissions 2018 at the campus in general.

The session was formally started by the recitation from Holy Quran. Ms. Laila Student of Tourism & Hospitality Management recited some verses from Quran Sharif and Ms. Khasiyat Numa Student of Development Studies recited a Naat e Rasool Maqbool. Ms. Gulfam student of Tourism & Hospitality Management was the stage secretary of the session

Open Forum Session with Communities of Hunza & Nagar

Mr. Rehmat Karim Administrator KIU Hunza campus in his presentation briefed the communities about the existing infrastructure of the campus. He also mentioned the number of full-time faculty members available at the campus, also highlighted the facilities available on campus for students. The administrator also highlighted the current enrollments in various departments at the campus. The ongoing developmental projects and future endeavors were also highlighted in his presentation.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Attaullah Shah in his talk highlighted the new degree programs introduced at main campus Gilgit, the engineering degree programs being offered and the construction of the new hostel buildings at main campus Gilgit. The Vice-Chancellor informed the audiences that the University will become paperless in near future, as the University is now on its way to adopt the new technologies. Vice Chancellor assured the communities about his commitment to providing quality education to the students so that they can play their vital role in the transformation of their respective societies.  The Vice Chancellor also mentioned his recommendations for the establishment of KIU sub-campuses at Nagar and Astore districts.

Open Forum Session

Talking to the communities the Vice Chancellor asked the communities to provide land in “Dong Dass” for the construction of building for Hunza campus. Space will become constraint as the number of enrollments is increasing at Hunza campus. The Vice Chancellor highlighted that if we are unable to acquire land for the construction of campus we would not be able to provide quality education for the students of Hunza and Nagar. As the enrollments at Hunza campus will reach to 600 in number after the ongoing Fall Admissions 2018 at the campus. The Vice-Chancellor in his speech praised the KIU Hunza campus team’s efforts for conducting the open forum a successful event in an urgent notice.

The representatives from the notables of Hunza and Nagar pledged for sorting out the issues for the provision of land to KIU Hunza campus at “Dong Dass”. All the representatives from both the communities assured their full support for the provision of land for the campus.
