White Cane Day Celebrated at KIU Ghizer Campus. KIU will provide all possible facilities to people with Specially Enabled People. VC KIU.

To create awareness about the rights of Blind and Special Persons, White Cane day was celebrated at KIU Ghizer Campus. Vice Chancellor KIU Prof. Dr. Attaullah Shah was the chief guest at the occasion. Secretary Information Mr.Fida Hussain, Mr.Abdul Hakeem Dir Special Education, A.C. Ghizer, Mr.Shakeel, rep Ismaili Council, President People with Disabilities Ghizer, President Ghizer Unison of Journalists and a large number of special people attended. Campus Director Dr.Sabit Rahim welcomes the participants and shared with them the achievements of the Campus in short time with the support of KIU senior Management and especially VC. The president PWD shared the importance of the day with the audience and highlighted the challenges faced by people with disabilities. Dir Special Education explained the initiatives taken by GB Govt to solve their issues. Sec information assured support of his department for creating awareness about their problems. VC KIU thanked the event organizers and Campus Director for arranging an important event. He shared that 100% fee waiver to blind students and 50% other special people have been approved and it will be extended to sub-campuses including Ghizer. He directed Campus Director to establish Self Access Centre for such people. He also shared that all facilities of KIU campus will be made barrier-free for such people. He announced Rs.100000 scholarships from Aman Trust for Education of Disabled and Orphans (ATEDO). He also distributed White Canes to the blind people. The house appreciated the steps taken by VC KIU in promoting quality and research at KIU and taking keep interest in sub-campuses.
