The Department of Linguistics and Literature, KIU, observed Global Teachers’ Day dedicated to its beloved alumnus and Assistant Professor Mr. Muhammad Zafar Shakir (Late). The event was started with the Quran Khwaani by the students and faculty for the departed souls of Mr. Zafar Shakir and other faculty members of KIU who have passed away in the recent couple of years including Dr. Zulfiqar ALi , Assistant Prof. Food Sciences, Lecturer Kamran Khan from English Dept. KIU, Ms. Nosheen, Lecturer English Dept. KIU, Mr. Irshad ALi, former faculty of Computer Sciences and Registrar of UOB. Mr. Zafar Waqar Taj, Secretary Services & General Administration GB, Mr. Izharullah, Deputy Secretary Education, Mr. Abdul Khaliq Taj and other members from Halqa Arbab e Zoq, Mr. Muhammad Alam and Mr. Muhammad Younas, brothers of Mr. Zafar Shakir and other family members of Mr. Zafar. From the university, Honorable Vice Chancellor graced the occasion along with the HODs, Deans, Faculty, Students and media persons. In his speech, honorable Vice Chancellor expressed his heartfelt grief over the loss of the bereaved family of Mr. Zafar and also that of KIU family. He also discussed the role of teacher and mentioned all the Steps University is taking for the welfare of the members of the KIU family. He urged the faculty and students to look at the life span and service span of Mr. Zafar as role model. Mr. Abdul Khaliq Taj also addressed the audience on behalf of halqa e arbab e zoq and expressed deep sorrow over the loss and mentioned that Mr. Zafar. Mr. Zafar Waqar Taj in his speech counted the contributions of Mr. Zafar Shakir at length and said that perhaps some inner instinct had alarmed him, that’s why Zafar lived a full life in the available years of his life. He was the architect of his fortune and had full control over the flow of his life. Miss Shamim Ara Shams, Mr. Muhammad Alam and Mr. Muhammad Younas, the elder brothers of Mr. Zafar also addressed the audience. After the conclusion of the program, the guests and the honorable Vice Chancellor unveiled the plaque of Muhammad Zafar Shakir English Auditorium.
