POSITION OF THE VICE CHANCELLOR, KARAKORAM INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY, GILGIT

Karakoram International University, Gilgit, is a prominent public sector institution of higher learning established in 2002 to support development in the physically, economically, and socially challenged human settlements widely dispersed in regions dominated by high mountains in Pakistan and across borders. In 2008, its charter was revised in conformity with the Federal Universities Ordinance 2002. Applications are invited from eminent academicians/scholars of international repute for the position of Vice Chancellor, Karakoram International University, Gilgit.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

• PhD from a HEC-recognized University/Institution.
• Experience of at least 20 years teaching/research/administration with at least five (05) years as a full professor in HEC recognized University/Institution or equivalent rank with professional experience in a national or international Research and Development organization.
• Demonstrated experience in teaching, research, administration, and fund management.
• Experience at leadership position like, Chairman/Principal/Director of an institute or center, and Dean or equivalent.
• Not more than 65 years of age on the last date fixed for submission of the applications.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

• Experience of working in the Statutory Authorities of an institution/organization such as Academic Council, Senate/Syndicate, or Management Council, Executive Council, or Board of Management, and other Statutory Bodies, etc.
• Experience of handling quality issues like assessment and accreditation procedures, etc.
• Experience of handling developmental programs/projects and their associated matters at the national or international level.
• Contribution at international/national level (policy papers, patents, discoveries, varieties, etc.).
• Performance/engagement in outreach community activities/projects, awareness campaigns in respective fields/societal issues.
• Membership/leadership role in societies/organizations (national/international).
• Experience of establishing new organization/entity/campus at national/international level.
• Management of public funds and developmental efforts undertaken (public sector projects); and
• Experience of undertaking activities to secure new and additional financial, human, and material resources to advance organizational vision/mission.

• Certified copies of educational certificates/degrees/diplomas.
• List of HEC-recognized research publications, citations, and h-index.
• Details of certified administrative experience duly supported by documentary evidence.
• Recent passport size photograph along with a certified copy of a valid CNIC clearly mentioning the date of birth of the applicant.
• Candidates meeting the requirements may apply by sending a letter of intent, curriculum vitae, application form, undertaking on appropriate stamp paper, and Research Publications Proforma and three referees using a prescribed proforma available at the link

• The letter of intent should explain, in not more than 1000 words, the vision of the strengths, development, and sustainability of the institution’s programs. Members of civil society, professionals, scholars, etc., are also encouraged to nominate accomplished academicians or researchers suitable for consideration of possible appointment as Vice Chancellor.
• Those already in Government / Semi-Government service are required to apply through the proper channel.
