We are thrilled to announce that Department of Chemistry is going to organize a 03-Days “1st National Conference on Medicinal Plants Research (1st NCMPR)” to be held on “29th – 31st August 2018”, at Karakoram International University, Gilgit. The event shall be inaugurated by Professor Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary (H.I., S.I., T.I.), National Distinguished Professor and an eminent scientist of Pakistan. The program of 1st NCMPR promises to blend the academic, professional, social and cultural experiences because it is intended to invite and host the researchers from all provinces of Pakistan. 1st NCMPR offers all the participants a great experience.

The conference (1st NCMPR) is conceived to gather academia, researchers, professionals and related personnel on a single platform to devise a strategy to exploit an important natural resource for research and economic growth of the country. Medicinal flora is an important asset of Gilgit-Baltistan, the ethnobotanical studies reveal that the local communities are mainly dependent for different health conditions. However, the flora is yet to be investigated on scientific standards to discover its real therapeutic value based on the indigenous information. This is the first event to provide a forum for University teachers and students to share their ideas and knowledge pertaining to plants and their therapeutic potential. 1st NCMPR will provide an opportunity to young faculty and researchers to interact with national renown scientists working in the same research area to shape their career and come up with novel findings addressing sustainable development goals (SDGs) to contribute in the national economy.
