The Search Committee for the next Vice Chancellor (VC) appointed by the Senate of KIU, invites applications accomplished and strongly motivated academic leaders and administrators who can develop further and improve the management of this important resource of intellectual growth and higher learning. KIU was established in 2002 to support development in the physically, economically and socially challenged human settlements widely dispersed in regions dominated by high mountains in Pakistan and across borders. In 2008 its charter was revised in conformity with the Federal Universities Ordinance 2002.
Applicants – preferably a Ph.D. – will be assessed according to their academic and leadership abilities and attainments, as well as significant evidence of scholarship, administration, meaningful research, strategic planning, financial management and resource development. A holistic understanding of issues pertaining to the higher education sector, including enhancement of pedagogy and quality assurance, research and development, impact on the economy, development of human and financial resources, and constructive social interaction with communities, will be considered as a major asset.
The VC shall be appointed by the Chancellor for a period of 4 years and will be entitled to draw “Vice Chancellor Salary Package” as approved by the Chancellor. Further details in this respect are available at www.hec.gov.pk
Experienced candidates capable of taking up the challenge of this position may apply by sending a letter of intent, curriculum vitae and names and contact details of three referees. The letter should explain, in less than 1000 words, their vision of the strengths and possibilities of development and sustenance of the University’s programmes. Members of civil society, professionals, scholars, etc. are also encouraged to nominate accomplished academicians or researchers suitable for consideration of possible appointment as Vice Chancellor, subject to submission of a formal application. Those already in Government / Semi Government service are required to apply through proper channel. Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for the interview. Shortlisted candidates, at the time of the interview, are required to submit HEC attested / equivalence copies of the terminal degree attached.
