On the eve of 14 August, 2017, 70th Independence Day of Islamic Republic of Pakistan observed at main campus Karakoram International University Gilgit. The ceremony was attended by Acting Vice Chancellor, senior teachers, officers, employees and students of University. Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Acting Vice Chancellor of KIU hoisted national flag with lyric of national anthem. On this occasion security personnel presented guard of honor to national flag. The Vice Chancellor of KIU, Prof. Dr. Khalil said that it is a day to recall and appreciate the sacrifices of our great ancestors. Not only that, but also we need to follow the footsteps of those great heroes who gave us the identity of a nation. The Vice Chancellor extended tribute to the whole nation and said that Pakistan is a gift from our great leader Quaid e Azam and his companions and we have the responsibility to make our country stronger by maintaining and upholding this gift with honesty and sincerity.
It is also worthy to mention that the entire University campus was illuminated since the previous night and that really presented a picture of happiness, strength and pride.
