Karakoram International University (KIU) and Bahria University (BU) have agreed to collaborate on promoting research excellence and improving the quality of higher education. This understanding was reached during a meeting between Vice Chancellor KIU, Prof. Dr. Attaullah Shah, and Rector BU, Vice Admiral (R) Asif Khaliq.
Key points of discussion included student and faculty exchange programs, particularly in the field of Tourism and Hospitality. Under the exchange framework, students from both institutions will have the opportunity to participate in academic and experiential learning programs during summer and winter breaks.
Faculty members from KIU and BU will also engage in joint national and international research projects, pursue collaborative funding opportunities, and share expertise to strengthen academic networks.
Rector BU expressed a keen interest in promoting Tourism and Hospitality studies in partnership with KIU, with potential support from the Hashoo Foundation. Additionally, BU will provide support in helping KIU achieve program accreditation and improve its positioning in international university rankings.
Dr. Abdul Wahab, Director of QEC (Quality Enhancement Cell), also attended the meeting and discussed areas of collaboration in quality assurance. BU committed to assisting KIU in elevating the standards of its academic programs.
As a token of academic goodwill, VC KIU presented Rector BU with the book titled “Pakistan and the Belt and Road Initiative”, published by KIU. The meeting also included a moment of reflection and prayer (Fateha) for the departed soul of the VC KIU’s younger brother.
This partnership marks a significant step toward strengthening academic cooperation and enhancing higher education standards in Pakistan.
