One Week HEC-KIU English Language Training Workshop held in Karakoram International University, at the Department of Modern Languages. It was a one week program from the 27-31 March 2017
A total twenty-five participants including fourteen faculty members from different departments of KIU and eleven participants from different inter, degree and education colleges of district Gilgit, participated in the workshop.
The workshop was organized by the Learning Innovation Division of Higher Education Commission under its Transforming English Language Skills (TELS) program and hosted and facilitated by the Department of Modern Languages.
The opening ceremony was held at the auditorium of the department on 27th of March, 2017, presided over by His Excellency, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Asif Khan, VC, KIU. The Registrar, HODs, Deans, Directors were also among the guests to witness the occasion. The ceremony was started with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a welcome note by the Coordinator for the Course, Mr. Syed Ziaullah Shah. Mr. Muhammad Zafar Shakir followed and briefed the audience about the aims, objectives, norms and rationale of the workshop. The Chief Guest was then invited for the inaugural speech and for the formal declaration of the opening of the workshop. His Excellency expressed his extreme happiness over the presence of the participating faculty especially from different colleges of the district. The worthy VC, expressed deep gratitude for the Learning Innovation Division’s cooperation and support and paid special thanks to for the swift and timely coordination and wished the same cooperation in the days to come.
The workshop concluded with a formal Closing Ceremony on 31st of March, 2017. His Excellency, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Asif Khan, Vice Chancellor, KIU, once again graced the occasion as a Chief Guest. The ceremony started with the reflective speeches by the participants who expressed their gratitude to HEC for giving them a chance to experience any HEC venture which they deemed a great honor and opportunity. His Excellency, the VC, gave away the shields to the RPs and certificates to the participants.
In his concluding address, his Excellency congratulated the Department of Modern Languages upon the successful execution and completion of the workshop and appreciated the efforts to bring two organizations HEC and KIU together. His Excellency offered thanks to the Learning Innovation Division for the wholly support to hold the workshop and expressed the wish for the same support in the days to come.
The ceremony was concluded with the vote of thanks by Mr. Syed Ziaullah Shah, the coordinator of the workshop, to all those who contributed to making the workshop success.
