Fifty thousand scholarships at the cost of Rs 5 Billion shall be given to undergraduate students of about 100 public Universities. This was shared by Adviser to PM on Social Development Dr.Sania Nishrar and Dr.Tariq Banuri at the VCs Committee meeting. Vice Chancellor KIU Prof. Dr. Attaullah Shah along with Dean FLS Dr.Khalil Ahmad and Financial Assistance Officer Mr.Saeed Ahmad attended through video link from KIU Main Campus. This program will continue for 4 years. Online registration portal will be developed by HEC and the talented & deserving students will register on it. The Steering Committee will develop the details of screening process etc. Earlier Chair HEC explained that only 10% population has access to higher education which include merely 0.25% from lower middle income group. This scholarship program in the largest in terms of its number. The objective of the program is to give more access to higher education in the country. While giving suggestions on the, VC KIU proposed that large number of grants may be provided for underprivileged areas like GB.
