Mission Statement

The Computer Science Department strives for excellence in teaching, applying and creating knowledge in computer science through comprehensive educational programs, research in collaboration with industry and government and dissemination through scholarly publications.

To develop deep technical, analytical, problem-solving and leadership skills in our students which are needed to create new software solutions and computing technologies and harness the software potential to empower people, organizations, and society.

Technology has immense importance in the modern era and the Department Computer Science and Information Technology, Karakoram International University being the one of the largest department of the university is serving as the backbone for the University.Computers being the basis of life today, underline the importance of a department dedicated to imparting knowledge of computers and its applications. We are aware of everyday breakthroughs in modern technology and thus committed to equipping and imparting our students with advanced competencies required managing the growing needs of sciences and technology; especially computer sciences, in almost every professional field today.

The Computer Science department expects to produce graduates who are:

  1. Competent in Computer Sciences
  2. Able to pursue advanced education, research, and development in emerging fields of computing, initiate and lead their own software startups companies/groups.
  3. Responsible and effective citizens with innovative ideas towards problem-solving in general and specific mountain context.
  4. Leaders in their profession and society.

  1. Students will have the essential knowledge and overview of the general area of computer science and its applications using programming, data structures, operating systems, algorithms, databases, artificial intelligence, computer networking.
  2. Students will be able to think creatively and critically and build logic and design to solve computing problems.
  3. Students will be able to demonstrate basic concepts in advanced fields of data science, Internet of Things and Machine Learning.
  4. Students will be able to exhibit fundamental software engineering, object-oriented analysis & design concepts by applying the concepts and techniques from computing and mathematics to both theoretical and practical problems to develop and manage software projects including Desktop Applications, Web Based Applications, and Mobile Applications.
  5. Students will be able to address ethical, social, and environmental issues in their professional lives and will practice professional and ethical responsibilities.
  6. Students will be able to communicate their knowledge, experience, and ideas at local, national and international level with the ability to effectively work in groups and as well as individually.
  7. Students will be able to pursue their careers as Software engineer, Programmer, Web developer, Games programmer, Computer graphic designer or Network Administrator.
  8. Students will be able to pursue graduate-level studies and research in leading national and international universities.

The specific program objectives of BSCS are:

  1. To equip students with rapidly evolving knowledge of concepts, theories, applications, and practices associated with the field of computer science.
  2. To prepare the student with innovative practices related to computer science applications and enhance the programming skills for solving computer science problems.
  3. To provide students with an ability to use and analyze software programs tools effectively and efficiently.
  4. To provide students with an awareness of ethical, social, interpersonal and communication skills effectively.
  5. To develop analytical, logical and critical thinking in students.
  6. To Inculcate and enhance the research abilities of students in respective fields.
  7. To prepare the student with an ability to use ICTs to become a lifelong learner.

The specific program objectives of the BSIT program are:

  1. To enhance student’s concepts, theories, application and practices associated with the IT world.
  2. To prepare the student with innovative practices related to IT application for solving Information Technology/business operations and strategies productivity in the local and global platform.
  3. To provide the student with an ability to use and analyze software programs and tools in emerging areas of Data Sciences, Networking, Machine Learning and AI effectively.
  4. To provide students with an awareness of ethical, social, interpersonal and communication skills effectively.
  5. To inculcate analytical, logical and critical thinking capabilities in students.
  6. To inculcate IT-based entrepreneurial spirit in students.
  7. To inculcate and enhance the research abilities of students in respective fields.

  1. To equip students with required updated knowledge of concepts, theories, application and practices associated with the domain of Software Engineering.
  2. To aware students about current software engineering industry standards and practices for designing, implementing, developing, deploying high-quality software solutions and maintain software systems productivity in the local and global platform.
  3. To provide the student with an ability to use and analyze software programs tools effectively.
  4. To provide the student with an awareness of ethical, social, interpersonal and communication skills effectively.
  5. To develop analytical, logical and critical thinking in students.
  6. To inculcate research aptitude in students through engaging students in research activities in emerging fields of Software Engineering.
